Some may formerly know me for appearing as a candidate in the eleventh series of the BBC One show The Apprentice.
I reached the gruelling interview stages, being known for my determination and hard work, as Lord Sugar said he hasn’t met many Charleine’s! But it’s not all about the apprentice, I am heavily into hair, beauty and fashion.
After spending 12 years in the Royal Navy as a Physical Training Instructor, I went on to qualify as a hairdresser and makeup artist after my first pregnancy. I Opened my first, award winning salon, in 2010. I don’t want to brag but so clients know I am a multi award winning hairdresser and carry out a huge amount of high profile fashion and magazine work as well as specialising in the wedding industry, I literally love my job and working the hair on the shop floor. It’s sad but true when I say, I love to live, eat, sleep and breathe it. My husband Scott also ties in well with working life and is an extremely talented photographer specialising in weddings, we make your dream wedding team. I look forward to meeting new and old clients and creating your dream images for you.
I have 30 years of hairdressing experience and have managed numerous salons. My qualifications include: Hairdressing- Beautician, Acrylic Nails, Admin, Assessors Award, Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector and Management.
I have now decided to leave the teaching side and become a Receptionist where I can be salon-based and part of this amazing team. I am able to support everyone in order for the salon to run smoothly and continue to thrive. I have spent the past 10 years as a Tutor/Assessor for Hairdressing, visiting salons and training their Apprentices to meet the current standards and achieve their qualifications.
I have always wanted to become a stylist and started as an Apprentice in a town salon.
I have since progressed my experience and skills as a level 3. I have a flair for big blow drys and bang on trend colours. I joined Charleine Wain’s team last year and have been fortunate enough to build a great clientele with lovely people, working with a great team.
Straight from school I attended college where I studied beauty therapy science and received a BTEC national diploma.
I cover all beauty treatments and also CND qualified in nails. I have worked in salons since 2006 and went on to do my hairdressing training. In 2011 I owned my own salon Barbican Hair and Beauty but with children commitments and the great offer to join the number 1 leading team Maiya’s as their only beautician with a lovely room for me to work from I jumped at the chance and was privileged to have been chosen and asked. I joined the team in May 2014 and absolutely love it here, the rest of the team are friendly and lovely.

Let us introduce you to our Director Stylist Elena, if you have not had the pleasure to meet her yet.
Elena has joined us all the way from New Zealand where she worked in the top Rodney Wayne Salons. She is here with her military partner who is on an exchange and will be spending her time with us. She is highly experienced and talented and we recommend booking in with her fast as in just a few months in the UK she has become pretty much a fully booked stylist with us. Our clients love her and her accent is adorable so you will enjoy listening to her whilst receiving incredible hair.
Meet your senior stylist and lash extensions expert, Rochelle, who joined the team in June 2013.
I have had a passion for the hair and beauty industry from an early age and when the opportunity to work at Maiya’s (now CW Salon) arose, I grabbed it with both hands. I love the friendly staff and equally friendly clientele and thoroughly enjoy coming into work each day.
I have been hairdressing from leaving school and my passion has for the industry continues to grow stronger and stronger.
I joined the CW team in October 2014 and have enjoyed the amazing journey that has led us to being voted the best salon in Plymouth on 3 separate occasions. The salon is a pleasure to work in and I love to seeing and working with our amazing clients, old and new.
I have always been interested in the Hair and Beauty industry and gained my Beauty qualification straight from school.
I have had the privilege of working with Charleine Wain over the past year, supporting her with weddings where I have completed numerous make-up for brides and bridesmaids. I have since gained more qualifications including Micro-blading and lash extensions as the salon has a high demand for these services. I am really enjoying meeting new people and gaining a clientele.
I’ve always wanted to do hairdressing and have always had a passion for hair.
I had just turned 26 when I decided to follow my dream and Charleine has been amazing giving me this opportunity and helping me achieve what I have so far. I am loving every minute at the salon and all the team are amazing. I’m constantly learning new things which I love and I’m looking forward to meeting lots of new people and having a long career in something I love doing so much.
I recently joined Charleine Wain Salon as I want to gain the necessary qualifications to become a good all round stylist.
I applied here because of the reputation and I feel comfortable as the team are really freindly and welcoming. I look forward to starting college and gaining more knowledge.
I decided to join Charleine Wain Salon because I have been told it was one of the best salons in Plymouth to work for.
Since joining, I have been given amazing opportunities to learn all things involved in the salon. I look forward to attending college soon and working towards my Level 2 qualification.
With over 7 years experience in a high profile salon in London Janine has moved from London having many career highlights under her belt, working on numerous shoots having her collections published in hair magazines to working on the hair for Alison Jackson who is known for her lookalike photographs of celebrities.
Also competing in several competitions throughout the uk and internationally, winning an international award, title of ‘UK REVLON STYLE MASTER COUNTRY WINNER 2012’ in Budapest, Hungary but her main joy is looking after her own clients in the salon and looks forward to seeing you soon. I feel privileged to have been promoted to Manager in such a high profile salon.
A REWARDING JOURNEYFrom humble beginnings we’ve grown up into a thriving business with a loyal client base but we're proud of our heritage.
Since the opening of her first salon in 2010 (then named “Maiya’s”), Charleine Wain has gone from strength to strength and today enjoys the huge accolade of being recognised as the “Best salon in Plymouth,” an award that she has won 3 times.
Within weeks of opening, Maiya’s, shortly followed by the second salon (now named “Charleine Wain”) was awarded the lucrative 5 star rating by the Good Salon Guide and in doing so became one of only 2 salons in the region to do so.
Charleine’s passion for hair and beauty is infectious and is also enjoyed by her hugely talented and successful team of stylists and beauticians, who through passion and dedication, make our clients’ experience memorable, relaxing and uplifting.
